Supplied as a kit for eight pupils and consists of five MDF beams (600mm x 44mm x 3mm) graduated every 38mm and with a groove across its centre to locate the fulcrum point.

Also included are four fulcrums 32mm x 32mm x 64mm and forty metal blanks 25mm square.

The masses of the blanks are matched to ± 1%.

  • Key Stage 3 Physics: Motion and Forces: Moment as the turning effect of a force. Using force arrows in diagrams, adding forces in 1 dimension, balanced and unbalanced forces.
  • Key Stage 4 Physics: Motion and Forces: Recognise forces that cause rotation. Define the moment of such forces and calculate their values. explain how levers and gears transmit the effects of linear and rotational forces.
