UNILAB Amplified Microphone

UNILAB Amplified Microphone

E8R09545

Product code: E8R09545

The amplified microphone is a great way to observe sound waves on an oscilloscope.  The output level is much higher than the traditional crystal microphones giving a very clear trace. Two amplified microphones can be used with a storage oscilloscope or Motion QED to measure the speed of sound.

Specification:

  • Battery: 3 x AAA (not supplied)
  • Gain: 125
  • Frequency range: 0 - 20kHz
  • Output :± 2V a.c.
  • Key Stage 3 Physics - Waves:  Sound needs a medium to travel, the speed of sound in air, in water, in solids. Pressure waves transferring energy; use for cleaning and physiotherapy by ultrasound; waves transferring information for conversion to electrical signals by microphone. Sound produced by vibrations of objects, in loudspeakers, detected by their effects on microphone diaphragm and the ear drum; sound waves are longitudinal
  • Key Stage 4 Physics - Forces and Motion: Speed of sound, estimating speeds and accelerations in everyday contexts.
  • Key Stage 4 Physics - Waves: Amplitude, wavelength, frequency, relating velocity to frequency and wavelength.
  • Use with an oscilloscope to visualise sound waves.
